Dubai Entry Visa
What kinds of visas/entry permits are available
The UAE offers a tourist/visit visa (sometimes called “visit visa”) for purposes such as tourism, visiting relatives, business meetings, medical treatment, etc.
Some nationalities are eligible for a visa on arrival (i.e., you don’t need to apply in advance) for stays of up to 30 days or 90 days depending on country.
The standard passport-validity rule: Your passport must generally be valid for at least 6 months at the time of entry into the UAE.
Key requirements & how to apply
For a regular tourist/visit visa (for those not eligible for visa-on-arrival)
Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity) and copy of travel document.
Passport-size photo (often colour, recent).
Round-trip or onward flight ticket.
Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or stay address).
Medical insurance valid in UAE may be required.
For the long-term “multiple entry tourist visa” (5 years) the applicant must show bank statements showing a minimum balance (USD 4,000 or equivalent) over last 6 months.
Application is generally made through aviation/hotel/travel agent or authorised channels as the UAE government portals allow.
Visa-on-arrival
Nationals of certain countries can obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport (i.e., no prior visa application). Example: Indian citizens holding certain qualifying visas or residence permits can obtain a “visa on arrival” stay.
Always check the latest list of eligible countries and conditions.
Important Notes & Tips
Working is not allowed on a tourist visa: If you intend to work, you must apply for the correct employment/residence permit.
Always verify official information from the UAE government portal or the relevant emirate’s immigration authority because policies may change.
Beware of fraudulent services offering “fast-track” or “special” visa routes; many are not authorised. (See recent warnings by UAE authorities.)
Overstaying your visa can incur fines, deportation or difficulties re‐entering later.
Even if you are visa-exempt or have visa-on-arrival, you still must meet entry requirements (valid passport, return ticket, accommodation proof).
